I've been honored with the Kind Blogger Badge. I accepted it because it links to the Don't Be Sad Blog, which truly is all about kindness. It serves as a reminder that every action we make, kind or unkind, is like a pebble tossed into a pond, with ripples spreading in circles away from it. Everything we do affects someone else, somehow, whether we know it or not.
Thomas Merton, a Trappist monk (although one label doesn't come close to describing him) said something to the effect that each one of our sins, even the "white lies," contributes to the evil in the world; in a nutshell, each one of us is to blame for war and other evil acts that occur.
Mother Teresa said "What can you do to promote world peace? Go home and love your family."
We're human; we're going to make wrong decisions; we're going to sin. But if we try to do something kind every day, if we do our best to love our families despite themselves (and try to be lovable so they can love us back), maybe it will cancel out some of the bad.
So check out the Don't Be Sad Blog for ideas on Random Acts of Kindness, or contribute any you have.
