You think you know someone, and then SNAP! they reveal another side to themselves you never even suspected. I'm talking about creativity..talents...passions. With some friends, I have always known about their creative interests, but there are more and more who have waited until these middle-aged years to reveal and pursue their passion.
Lately it's these talented, musical middle-aged men that keep popping up. I discovered just the other day that Byron Tully, a friend from high school who is a screenwriter in Los Angeles (the first surprise, but I got over that years ago...,) is also a songwriter. Then there's Mike Young, another friend from high school, who has been playing his guitar for as long as I can remember. What I didn't know until last year is that he has been writing, playing, and recording his own songs. He has several CDs now - everything and anything you hear on the CD is him. There's also a friend here in Lago Vista/Jonestown that we met years ago through Boy Scouts - Jim Linton. He made the Cub Scout campouts more fun, playing Eagles songs on his guitar around the campfire. He formed a band with another friend, Eric Mancilla - "Linton-Mancilla". They've performed original music all around the Austin area, and have also recorded a couple of CDs.
So I decided to start a list (you never know when more will pop up) of these music men friends - and also my assemblage artist friend, Annie - on the sidebar of my blog with links to their websites. I'm hoping they get really famous, so I can say "I knew you when..."
