...So we're driving through Yellowstone National Park and come to this traffic jam. Turns out there's a mama black bear and her cub near the road. It's crowded and Tom's in a little bit of a hurry to get through the park, so we keep going, but his brother John stops.
"I climb into the back of my truck to get a better view of the bears on the hill across the street," he tells us later, "and this man asks if he can get up there with me, and I say sure, and we're talking about the crazy people getting so close to the bears. Then I hear someone ask 'Where are the bears?' and a lady answers 'Over by that tree, right in front of the girl in the bright green shirt with the camera,' and that's when I realize that GIRL is my WIFE! And all Yadira said about it, with a big smile on her face, was, 'She called me a girl?'" (This happened just a few weeks before her 30th birthday...)
Yadira graciously shared the photos she courageously captured...I think she might have a future with National Geographic...
She also got some great shots of a grizzly - maybe the one we saw a little farther down the road (this time we stopped, too)...or a different one they saw during the two or three more days they stayed...the bears were out this year!
She also got this great shot of buffalo...
And I have to include these - the Photography Wars (me, Daniel, and Yadira)...me and worn-out goddaughter Nicole...Yadira, John and their kids...Tom and John (on tiptoes)...
