I feel like celebrating tonight! Daniel checked his grades and he had three A's and two B's!!! He now has a 3.6 average - well, for this semester, anyway. This time last year he was on academic probation, so this is a HUGE leap. I am so proud of him, and happy for him, too, because I know he's been working really hard and he sees that it paid off, that he can do it, that he's capable of doing it.
And listen to this...at the top of the grade report, it says UNIVERSITY HONORS. DANIEL MADE THE UT HONOR ROLL!! YA-HOO!!
(I got an A in my class, too, by the way. I found out yesterday. That was a relief, but I'm still happier about Daniel's A's.)
News from Tommy in Dallas...he rented a Chevrelet Cobalt, I'm sure the absolutely cheapest rental he could find. He had to work late tonight, then go to the grocery store, so he didn't even get home until around 8pm. He was going to do a little more research on which car he should buy. I hope none of this gets in the way of him coming home this weekend...it's already bad enough that I won't see him Christmas Day! (He has that day off, but has to work Friday.)
I've made a little more progress on my Christmas preparations. Most of my is shopping done - I went with Kendall tonight and I'll finish up tomorrow. I'll write my Christmas newsletter tonight...or at least get started...so tomorrow night I can finish it up, stuff the envelopes and mail them Christmas Eve day. I've mailed them after Christmas before, so I'm actually a little ahead of schedule, compared to other years! Then somewhere in there I'll bake cookies, wrap gifts...but mostly, I'll keep in mind why we are doing all of this...remembering the baby that was born in the manger so many years ago, for all of us...
Here's another glimpse of a Christmas that seems like yesterday...Tommy, Kendall, Daniel, 1991
