It's he-ere...the Recession has officially landed in our front yard.
Tom delivered the grim news when he got home last night: his company is freezing wages, cutting back executive salaries, and (as in Tom's case) having employees take two weeks off without pay. But, it could be worse...at least he didn't get laid off (like a friend of ours) and the company didn't completely shut its doors.
It makes me even more grateful for my new job. What a literal Godsend! He does provide, doesn't he?
I'm not turning a blind eye to the seriousness of the situation. After all, I'm the one that pays the bills every month. We're definitely going to have to "tighten our belts" a LOT, just like we did when I first quit work after Kendall was born. We haven't been nearly as frugal as we could have been the last few years (ask our son, Tommy, aka Mr. Frugal.) I've just decided to be a Positive Thinker.
As Norman Vincent Peale said, "A positive thinker does not refuse to recognize the negative, [but] refuses to dwell on it. Positive thinking is a form of thought which habitually looks for the best results from the worst conditions."
Wish me luck (and please say some prayers!)
