We've had some absolutely beautiful weather lately - the kind that calls to you to get outside, away from the computer, or the dishes, or the laundry. But seriously, we need some rain! Need proof?
Our pond, that first February...
Our pond, fourteen years later (two weeks ago)...
Since that first year, it's often been full and overflowing, the little waterfall just below our house roaring like the surf at a beach. At other times it's gone low, down to the original creek bed dotted with fossils. But this is the driest it's been in a long, long time.
"Lake" Travis is pretty thirsty, too. It's not much of a lake these days. I took these from my friend's balcony this past Saturday. Their dock is usually up near the little bushes. You're not supposed to see that finger of land at all. The houses to the right have docks sitting on dry land.
