Around 5pm yesterday afternoon, all "hail" broke loose above our house, pounding on our metal roof, stripping leaves and small branches from the junipers and oaks, knocking out the lights lining the front pathway, destroying the top of Tom's little Capri convertible, and scaring the bejeezus out of the puppies and Frankie (I think he took cover under one of the cars, poor little guy!)
Through my eyes a little later, headed to class in Austin...snow-like drifts piled next to mounds of vibrant bluebonnets on the side of the highway and scattered throughout the woods...bits of cedar leaves and twigs scattered across the road...sunshine and blue sky behind me in the west, turbulent gray, stormy skies in front of me in the east...a perfect double rainbow, vivid stripes of every hue, arching north and south above me.
Driving home, into the hills...waves of fog rolling across the highway, a navy blue sky full of stars, the smell of fresh-cut cedar.
