...a houseful of family, including all three of my kids...blue skies and mild temperatures perfect for opening windows, walking through the woods and up to the top of the hill, and playing ping-pong...my mother's cornbread dressing recipe and Thanksgiving Day dinner instructions...double ovens and Chinette plates...in-laws who chip in and help out...
I'm grateful for friends and family...for the internet and telephones that allow Happy Thanksgiving wishes to travel back and forth, erasing the miles in-between us, especially those between my parents and me.
I'm thankful the University of Texas pulled off a win against the Aggies last night. Whew! What a nail-biter! (Oh, yeah...I'm grateful for friends who let us crash their party to watch the game. We don't have cable television!)
I'm thankful for this day, the one I'm sitting in right now...an empty square on the calendar in between two busy ones...a day for catching up on laundry, setting up the Christmas tree, watching funny you-tube videos or movies, and just spending time with Tom and the kids ...
I'm grateful for this chance to catch my breath before the next race begins...the coming season should be filled with self-reflection, celebration, and joy rather than stress and headaches, but it's a tough balancing act for me.
Maybe it will help to think of every day as Thanksgiving Day, listing my blessings alongside my 'things-to-do'...maybe it will help me remember why I'm doing what I do each day...
Happy Thanksgiving...Many Blessings to Everyone!
