When you have a stress knot in your neck and to-do lists are popping up all over the house and you're wondering when you're going to have time to do all of them, is it really sane to head off to the movies after work instead of trying to scratch things off?
Who cares? Yeah, I know I've been complaining about not having enough time in the day...I realize I have to be up 5 am again in the morning...I can see there are still a few ornaments waiting quietly on the kitchen table to be boxed and shelved for another year...but I turned a blind eye to it all and treated Daniel and Kendall to the movies tonight. I love sitting in a dark theater, sharing the movie experience with other people, stuffing that salty, unhealthy popcorn in my mouth by the handfuls...Tom hates it. So I have to take advantage of having the kids here while I can. Gotta get my movie/popcorn fix!
Tonight we saw Sherlock Holmes. I wasn't sure what to expect...some critics loved it, some hated it, and the one viewer review I read said "save your money." But I've read the complete Sherlock Holmes collection...I'm a big Guy Ritchie fan ("Snatch", "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels")...and you can hardly go wrong with Robert Downey Jr. or Jude Law. It was worth the gamble.
I loved it. It isn't a film...it doesn't make you think or feel. So if that's what you're looking for...yes, save your money. But if you enjoy action and popcorn-munching mystery, like I do...if you want to laugh or just be entertained for a couple of hours...then I think you'll love it, too. Two thumbs up!
