... you find the paperwork for your scheduled colonoscopy mixed in with the birthday cards in your mailbox.
Oh, man ... I really, really dread that test. Well, not so much the test itself as the "preparation" for the test. But I can't very well spout off about eating healthy and exercising if I don't take care of other necessary evils, like the Big C, can I? Although I did manage to procrastinate on it all year.
Other than being forced to think about that, I've had a wonderful birthday ... also despite having to work when I had my mind all set for a day off. To appease myself, I went in late (I took time to walk the critters, finish my blog, work out and play my drums first) and left early (no reason except it was my birthday!) Before heading home, I drove to a nearby church and took pictures of the bluebonnets. No need to buy me flowers for my birthday - nature provides abundant bouquets everywhere I look!
Thanks to others, the rest of my day felt like a celebration: all of the happy birthday phone calls, emails and Facebook messages reminded me how blessed I am to know the people I know ... my bosses served me a slice of chocolate pie topped with a question mark candle and sang "Happy Birthday" to me ... Tom and I stuffed ourselves on Mexican food and margaritas ... we made it home in time for LOST and a great "what the heck is going on" Facebook discussion with two other addicts fans.
Fifty-one isn't so bad after all. I am truly, truly blessed ... and, strangely enough, I find myself looking forward to fifty-two!
A few shots of my birthday bouquets...
