I followed a trail of silver moonlight from my bedroom to the French doors this morning. The full moon waited for me just outside.
Good morning! it said.
Yes, it is, I told it.
I love seeing its beaming face watching over the Hollow, keeping an eye on things. I love how its light reaches all the way into the house and splashes on my floor.
I'm going to miss it.
Circumstances are forcing us to hang curtains on those windows. We designed and built the house the way we did, with the windows facing out into the Hollow so that we wouldn't have to block our views of the creek and pond and trees with curtains (the moonlight was a wonderful surprise!) Our property rises to a hill on the opposite side - no worries about anyone building there, peeking in.
We built our house in the center of our property to lessen the chance of seeing other houses. Silly us for thinking anyone else who built out here would do the same. Why anyone would want to position their house so they have a broad view of our house instead of a 360 of the woods and pond is beyond me.
I'm going to miss you, moon.
