A new face greeted me when I stepped out for my morning walk last week...
No, we haven't adopted another puppy. She lives next door but comes over to play almost every day, joining us for walks or just hanging around while my pups eat breakfast. I don't feed her, but if she sits for me, I give her a milkbone treat.
Belle is ecstatic about her new BFF - Haley likes to run and play as rough as she does. Belle's The Rocket Dog, but Haley is The Cannon, stocky, solid and powerful.
Max enjoys Haley's company, too - it takes some of the "play with the puppy" pressure off of him. Besides, it's obvious Haley has a crush on Max. Who could resist being idolized?
In my wildest dreams, I never expected to be spending my mornings walking with a Rottweiler and a Pit Bull. Tom and I have always been Lab/Shepherd people!
But you just never know what life's going to bring to your doorstep! All three of these dogs were wanderers... abandoned or dumped, left to fend for themselves. Lucky for them, their wandering led them to families who care for them. Not the fate of so many others.
Lucky for us, we're one of those families.
If you're a dog lover, you need to read the story of Diamond over at Mrs. BizWhiz. (Click here: It's a Dog's Life.) Diamond's story continues over several posts, all named "It's a Dog's Life". Here's a tip, though... keep some tissue handy.
